Robert is a Ph.D. candidate at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland Ohio. Robert’s scholarly foci includes: medical sociology; HIV/AIDS; intersectionality of race, class, and gender; the concept of masculinities and men’s health; and social and health policy. His interest in medical sociology developed as he became cognizant of the deleterious health outcomes and inequities among disenfranchised groups such as the poor, as well as racial, ethnic, and sexual minorities. His dissertation topic focuses on the attitudes and actions of decision makers on HIV/AIDS mobilization efforts and societal sentiment. In addition to receiving the 2007 Ruth Barber Moon Award for Academic Excellence and Promise at Case Western Reserve University, Robert’s article on HIV disclosure titled: “When Secrets Hurt: HIV Disclosure and the Stress Paradigm” is currently part of the edited volume Black Sexualities: Probing Powers, Passions, Practices, and Policies edited by Juan Battle and Sandra L. Barnes and published by Rutgers University Press. Robert, a 2005 graduate of Morehouse College, is currently employed by Morehouse College in Atlanta GA. Robert is a part-time adjunct professor in the department of sociology. In addition, Robert serves as the program manager for the Faces of Manhood Initiative funded by the Ford Foundation.
